Yesterday we went offshore looking for dolphin, on a half day trip. Did not find many dolphin, but Allison's first dolphin ever was a 24 pound cow, which she landed on 10 pound test. We grabbed an 18 pound cow there also, but lost the bull. It was her and Earl's first dolphin trip, and I am sure it will not be thier last!!! 05-20-2009 7:51:00 PM EST Tuesday we fished on the reef for another limit of nice yellowtails, amidst the thunder and lightning!!!! Way to hang in there Mary!!! 05-20-2009 7:49:39 PM EST Monday took Mark and Ray out dolphin fishing, fought the wind and several dolphin, the largest was 28 pounds (about two stones). We also found several small blackfin tunas, and than worked our way to the reef, where we quickly limited out on yellowtails, and through in a 14 pound red grouper for a very nice day on the water. 05-20-2009 7:45:37 PM EST Sunday was another fantastic day, we headed out into the gulf wrecks looking for some cobia and shark. We found some sharks, lemons, blacktips, and spinners. We also managed to wrestle with some Goliath grouper, the largest one I am guessing was about 400 pounds. I think we caught and released eight, ranging in size from 45 pounds to 400, and three of them were over two hundred. Way to go Mark and Ray!!!! 05-20-2009 7:40:55 PM EST My computer crashed, sorry for the missed daily reports. Last Friday we went offshore, found a limit of schoolies 6-10 pounds, and than ended up on the reef with a limit of flag yellowtail. Not a bad day for the electricians from Homestead!!!! 05-12-2009 8:02:05 AM EST
Well yesterday's dolphin fishing was phenomenol!!!! Right off the bat we hooked up a bull and cow, 46 # and 38 #, and landed them both after fifty minutes of struggling. The bull was caught on 12 pound test, the cow was caught on 10 pound test. How exhilerating!!!!! the next hour we proceeded to catch our limit of schoolies, and we were back at the dock at 11:15!

We stopped briefly on the reef on our way home, and added several three pound yellowtail into the box. now our big dilemna, which fish to eat for dinner? 05-07-2009 7:02:09 PM EST Well today was a very pretty day offshore. Mac celebrated his 83 birthday with a limit of nice dolphin. Kieth was high hook today, and the largest dolphin was 16 pounds. The rest were 8-12 pound schoolies. We had a 30 foot whale shark come up under the boat today while we were catching dolphin, what a gorgeous sight!!!!! Such a big, beautiful, graceful creature, and a school of dolphin all around him. Impressive!!!!!!! 05-07-2009 6:55:22 PM EST Yesterday was a wonderful morning with the Schultz family, we loaded up on Yellowtail snappers. We lost several others, but it was a pretty day offshore, ended on the reef also with a limit of yellowtail. 05-04-2009 8:12:39 PM EST The lane snappers cooperated today for about half an hour, than they shut down, it was enough time to have most of our limit, rounded out the day with yellowtails, small gag groupers, triggerfish, and of course a BIG fish that got away. Ask Kieth how big it was!!!! 05-04-2009 4:24:21 AM EST Yesterdays yellowtail fishing was good, until some human chum was dispersed. Apparently yellowtail do not like imported beer. 05-02-2009 4:16:22 PM EST
What a fantastic morning on the Reel Smiles. Just ask Terry Turner, who limited out on snappers in about a half an hour!!!! We had to come in early because her arms were sore!!!! Nice job on the lane snappers Terry!!! 04-30-2009 4:46:37 AM EST We snuck out fishing yesterday afternoon, caught enough for a couple of dinners, and came in early. Had two Canadian men on board that truly enjoyed seeing all the different reef fish that we caught, including Gary's big, beautiful ,bright blue parrotfish!!! Ron was the only angler lucky enough to catch lane snappers, and everyone else (even Tim) caught yellowtail snappers. Good job men!! 04-24-2009 4:11:27 AM EST Yesterday's yellowtail snapper fishing was another normal day on the reel smiles. We had our limit of fish by ten am, and than were playing catch and release. Art managed one nice mangrove, his largest ever, it tipped the scale at three and a half pounds. 04-21-2009 6:53:43 PM EST Could not get the Lane snappers to chew today, but the yellowtail cooperated. Joey was nice enough to clear out all the junkfish for us, so the rest of the team could catch yellowtail. Thanks Joey!!!! Joey did finish the day very strong, and was high hook, as usual. All the yellowtail you wanted this morning, we were playing catch and release by 10 am. 04-20-2009 4:34:53 PM EST Well Reel Smiles was put back in the water this morning, she has another new powerhead on her. Managed to get off the dock by 10:30, and had a limit of snapper by noon. We played catch and release after that, and headed back to the dock early, with sore arms. The lane snapper were agressive and large, didn't keep any under 16 inches. Sally had six or seven three pounders, but Capt Vince one the pool with a four and a half pound Lane. 04-14-2009 7:44:28 AM EST Sat morning's trip was fantastic, still a little bumpy but got better as the day went on. It was a slaughter on the Reel Smiles, with a hefty limit of yellowtail snappers. Of course, "Big Fish John" lived up to his name, by boating the largest snapper of the day, the lane snapper tipped the scale at four pounds! 04-14-2009 7:39:58 AM EST Friday's trip was very good for some, anyone that could stand-up caught thier limit of yellowtail snapper!!! There was a very large shark also brought up to the side of the boat, way to go Jeff!!!! 04-10-2009 4:27:31 AM EST Mon, Tues, and Weds I was up in West Palm playing on a yacht. All the yellowtail you wanted, with a couple of large Gag groupers thrown in. 04-06-2009 6:41:12 AM EST Sun morning was a fantastic trip everyone limited out on yellowtails( in less than an hour) and Mary Jo was also doing battle with some large triggerfish, running up to four pounds. Way to go TrigGirl! 04-06-2009 6:38:09 AM EST Well Saturday was just an average day on the Reel Smiles. We battled with some current issues, but managed to put together a nice limit of snapper. We caught lane snappers, and yellowtail, the lanes were all 15 inch fish, we had 8 yellowtail over 20 inches, and the rest were one to two pound fish. 04-03-2009 12:15:11 PM EST Did not untie the docklines today, the breeze was a little too much. 04-03-2009 12:13:20 PM EST Well yesterday's fishig was great until the wind picked up a little bit and switched to due south. When we started, it was blowing 18 out of the southwest, and the snapper bite was phenomenol. The yellowtail were cooperating and we also managed a four pound Mangrove and lots of gag grouper. One Gag made the grade. Than the wind shifted and increased, and we could not get any fish to bite. Made a move to a different area, and apparently it was a nursery. Caught over twenty grouper, none even close to measuring for dinner. The current was not moving, and the building waves led to a decision to go home. Final count on the snapper was 38. PREV
